Exchange Hosting Service Setup,
Step-By-Step

Here is a summary of the steps to set up your system to access Exchange Hosting Service.

  1. You can either configure a hosts file, or change your DNS suffix search order. See Connectivity for instructions.
  2. Test your success in step 1 by pinging one of our Exchange servers. See Connectivity Test
  3. Create a new Outlook profile to connect to the Exchange server. See Outlook Profiles
  4. Start Outlook with the new profile and try out the service.

A number of Internet Providers block port 135, which Outlook uses to communicate with Exchange. If you succeeded in steps 1 and 2 but Outlook still gives you an error message about the server being unavailable, that is the most likely cause, and you can either set up a VPN connection, or use Outlook 2003's RPC over HTTP feature.

Optionally, you can add an Outlook Data File file to your new profile.

Optionally, you can change your password. Read about password complexity requirements first.  Note the demo account is not allowed to change its password, and new accounts must wait 1 full day before changing.

If you want to use Outlook Web Access (OWA) to access your mailbox through a browser, go here.

Macintosh users, please refer to our Mac Tips.
