Web Folders
Web Folders let you use
Exchange 2003 server public folders, or your web
site, like a shared folder on a file server.
Easily open, save and edit files to your Web
Folders from any Office 2003, XP or 2000 application or
Windows Explorer.
You can access Web Folders through one of the
Microsoft products in the following list, or
through any other client that supports the
industry standard WebDAV protocol.
 |
Office 2003, XP or 2000 creates, publishes,
edits and saves documents directly into
Web Folders through any application in Office
2003, XP or 2000. |
 |
Windows XP or 2000 connects
to Web Folders through the Add Network Place
wizard and displays the contents of Web Folders
as if they were part of the file system on your
local computer, similar to a mapped drive or any
other server-based file-share. Once connected,
you can drag and drop files, retrieve and modify
file properties, and do many other file-system
tasks. |
 |
Internet Explorer 5 or
later connects to Web Folders and lets you do
the same file-system tasks you can do through
Windows XP or 2000. |
 |
If you're using Windows XP,
you will need to consider the issues raised by
its credentials feature. |
Web Folders in Exchange
Exchange public folders can be accessed through
Web Folders shortcuts in Windows Explorer or
Office 2003, XP or 2000 applications. See the Web Folders
tech support page in the password protected tech
support section of this web site for step-by-step
instructions.
Exchange public folders can also be used offline,
when you're not connected to the network, through
Outlook 2003, XP or 2000. See the Working
Offline tech support page.
Web Folders in your web site
Your Junctionbox hosted web site, or a subfolder
of it, can be accessed through Web Folders
shortcuts in Windows Explorer or Office 2003, XP or 2000
applications. See the Web Folders
tech support page.
Integrated Security
Because Web Folders are integrated with Windows
Server 2003, Exchange Server 2003 and IIS 6.0,
they incorporate robust security.
Only members of your workgroup with valid
usernames and passwords can use your Web
Folders. Anonymous web site browsers can not
access your Web Folders.
Each member of your workgroup who has an Exchange Mailbox will
receive a username and password, enabling access
to Web Folders.
